How do I eat according to the Food Pyramid?
Check out this food pyramid from the U.S. Department of agriculture, which offers a personalized calculation of the various food groups (grains; vegetables; fruits; dairy; meat, poultry, fish, eggs, nuts and dry beans; and fats, oils and sweets) in addition to recommendations for physical activity. It even includes dietary advice for children and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Print out this handy poster to stay health-savvy even when you're on-the-go.
Also check out the USDA and Health and Human Services' Dietary Guidelines, which are updated every 5 years. They offer advice for people two years and older about how good dietary habits can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases. The next set of guidelines are due out in 2010.
