Fast Food Nutrition
While fast food and nutrition are rarely seen in the same sentence, without a negative overtone, GourmetSpot recognizes that sometimes you just do not have enough time to cook up a gourmet meal. Occassionally, you will have to grab something on the go, so we have provided resources to help you make the healthiest choices when you're out.
- FastFoodNutrition.org
This site lists the menus from 17 popular fast food restaurants and the nutritional content of each item. Some items may surprise you. Try the meal calculator to find the nutrition facts of your favorite meal.
- DietFacts
With 449 restaurants listed, DietFacts has one of the most comprehensive nutrition information sites. It culls the information straight from the restaurants' own Web sites, at least those that actually report nutritional information. The site also lists restaurants that do not report their information to the public.
- HelpGuide.org
This non-profit resource is full of great information about the best choices when eating out. Be sure to read the second page of Healthcheck.org's handbook that advises eating certain items instead of others.
- American Diabetes Association
The ADA's tips can be helpful even for people without diabetes. The section under Your Order, Please? compares popular items to their more healthful counterparts and can be widely applicable.
The information above should be seen a guideline and not strictly medical advice. Consult a physician to help you plan out a diet that is right for your individual needs. |
