Fresh coffee
The key to keeping coffee fresh, whether in bean form or ground, is storing it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Keep coffee away from moisture, light and air. Buying your coffee in whole bean form and grinding just before you brew is best, as ground coffee loses its freshness faster. The National Coffee Association says small portions of beans can be stored in the freezer, but do not return them to the freezer after you have taken them out.
